Federal Judge Blocks Staples-Office Depot Merger
Judge rules for FTC and issues injunction stopping deal; companies say they will abandon merger

WASHINGTON—A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the planned merger of rivals Staples Inc. and Office Depot Inc. because of antitrust concerns, prompting the office-supply companies to say they would abandon the roughly $6 billion deal.
